What’s the difference between PianoWithWillie.com premium and gold memberships?

A premium membership grants you access to only (1) style. A GOLD membership gives you access to ALL of the styles. For example, a premium member to the Jazz site cannot view the lessons on the Gospel, Blues, Funk, Rock or Latin styles. However, a Gold member can view all lessons and freely move between Jazz, Latin, Rock, Funk, Gospel and Blues.

Note: Both memberships include the “ALL” and Willie answers lessons as well.

Can premium members download the sheet music?

Yes. Premium members can download the sheet music for which ever style they have signed up for. So, for example, a premium blues member can download all of the sheet music for the Blues lessons, but not for the Jazz lessons. Gold members can download all sheet music for all the lessons.

Can I switch my premium membership to another style?

Yes, as long as you are moving to the same billing timeframe. So, if you are a monthly member for Jazz lessons and want to move to a monthly Blues membership, we can do that.

However, if you want to move from a yearly membership to a monthly membership, you will need to cancel your current membership and signup for the new monthly membership. Contact us and we’ll help you.

How much does a membership cost?

Beginning September 1st, 2011 we are removing the yearly auto-renew membership option. If you have a current yearly renewal, it will remain in tact unless you cancel. Monthly memberships will still auto-renew every month if you signup for the recurring monthly membership.

In addition, we will be removing the year-long, style-specific, premium membership option. The Gold membership is a much better value and most students opt for that membership level.

It is very easy to cancel your subscription. Just login to your account, click on payments and click the -cancel- link. If you ordered through Paypal, see the “How do I cancel my Paypal subscription?” question on this page.

How does this site compare to others?

PayPal canceled my subscription

Making financial changes to your PayPal account such as updating credit card or banking information will cancel your monthly membership subscriptions. This is a not something we control nor can we update for you.

To restart your subscription, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to your account where you had your subscription.
  2. Select the membership from the list on the right.
  3. Scroll down the list and click the purchase/process order button.
  4. Continue to follow the payment process to complete the payment which will start your subscription over.

IMPORTANT! If you were paying a different rate than our current price, please submit a support ticket here: support.Include the product(s) you were subscribed to, the user name you use, as well as the price you were paying

Once we verify the details, we will try to reinstate you at the previous rate. If it has been more than 30 days since the cancellation, you will need to re-subscribe at the current rate.

Do the books come as PDFs?

The books are no longer available as PDFs, you may only purchase the physical copy. However the online version is available for Gold Members

How do I access the sheet music for my DVD or download?

There are also MP3 and MIDI files available for download.The sheet music and other files will be available at this site : http://www.pianowithwillie.com/download
You will need the email you used when you placed your purchase and the Order # (JAZZ-XXXXXXXX)

My download isn’t playing correctly

If you are experiencing audio and no video or video and no audio you may be using a program to play the download that is not compatible with how our lessons are “encoded” (fancy term for how it is created).

Our downloadable lessons run best with quicktime or VLC. The VLC media player is free, open source, and very safe, you should not experience any spam or viruses from this program.

Can Gold members download the lessons?

Yes, Gold members can download lesson chapters to their computer. With our Download Credits system, GOLD members receive download credits daily that never expire.

GOLD members receive 4.25 download credits per day (125 download credits total per month).

1 credit = 1 minute of video

So, each month Gold members can download just over 2 hours of video. The video format is M4V or audio mp3. You can download BOTH the audio and video file at the same time.

HELPFUL TIP: Most students do not download all of the chapters for a lesson…they pick and choose. For instance, there is no need to download the intro video.

How do I update my credit card information with you?

After you login to your membership account, you can click on the payments link to both see your recent payments and update your credit card information.

You can also use this form to change the card that is charged.

Note:The update box is always displayed, it will not disappear after you enter new information.

Does Gold membership include all of your material?

Yes. As a Gold member, you get access to every single lesson that we have created. So, any DVDs or lesson samples that you see on the site are included with the Gold Membership.

How do I cancel my account?

To cancel your account: 1) Login 2) click on payments 3) click cancel.

If you paid via PayPal, you will need to cancel from within your PayPal account. Directions on how to do this are in the “How do I cancel my Paypal subscription?” question

Can I upgrade to a yearly membership from a monthly membership?

Yes. Within your account, you can easily add or renew your membership. If you need help we are an email or phone call away, contact us

How often do you add new material?

Each week, Willie adds a new lesson to one of the style sections. This means that there is always new material being added and members can constantly be challenged with new lessons. Willie goes ‘in order’ so each style gets a new lesson every 6 weeks.

Do I need any special equipment to use the site?

No. The movies play using a standard flash player. Most likely you already have everything you need. The most important equipment is a high-speed Internet connection. Test the site with a free trial and then you can easily upgrade to a full membership.

How can I update my e-mail address?

You can update or change the email address we have for you in our records in the “View/Edit Profile” section of your member area.

To do this, log into your member area and click  ”View/Edit Profile.” 
There you can enter in your new email address and click “Save.”

Your new email address will be updated in our system.

Does sheet music come with the lessons?

Yes! As either a Premium or Gold member, you can download the sheet music that goes with the lesson. The music is yours to keep, even after your subscription ends.

Are there backing or jam tracks available?

Yes! As either a Premium or Gold member, you can download mp3 backing tacks that go along with the lesson. The tracks are yours to keep, even after your subscription ends.

You will find these in the members area under “jam tracks” in the top menu area

If I subscribe today, do I get a full month?

If you signed up for a monthly membership today, it will renew again in exactly 1-month from today. So, if you signup on January 15th, it will renew on February 15th at 12:00am.

So, in other words, memberships start on the day that you subscribe…not on the first of each month.

Can I burn downloaded files to a DVD?

Yes, depending on your software, you may need to convert the file first. A free video conversion software can be found here. On a Mac, the m4v files can be dragged and burned using Roxio’s Toast software. On windows, you can use NERO to burn the DVDs. Here are the instructions for NERO:

  1. Insert a blank DVD into the DVD writer drive. Open Nero Vision. Make sure when opening to specify DVD-Video.
  2. Click the “Import” button and select “Import Files” from the drop-down menu. When the browser pops up, select all of the M4V files you wish to convert and burn with Nero.
  3. Click the “Open” button to exit the browser and open the M4V files. Put the files in the order you wish them to play, then click the “Next” button. The “Edit Menu” screen will be displayed. Here you can edit the menus and change names or load different menus, but the defaults work just fine.
  4. Click the “Next” button when finished to go to the “Preview” screen. Here you can check the results of the menu options by pressing the “Pre-Render” button.
  5. Click the “Next” button to bring up the “Burn Options” screen. The parameters for burning and transcoding can be set here. By default, Nero Vision will encode the files to the correct resolution and automatically set the bitrate to match the space available on the DVD while still creating compliant Mpeg2 files.
  6. Press the “Burn” button, located where the previous “Next” buttons were, to start the transcoding of the M4V files. After completion, the menus will be encoded and the files will be burned to the DVD.

If you subscribe today for a recurring monthly membership, you will be billed again one month from today.

What are download points?

Download points are credits that can be used to download lesson chapters onto your computer. Premium and GOLD members receive download points every day which never expire

Premium members: 0.85 download points per day (25 download points per month)
GOLD members: 4.25 download points per day (125 download points per month)

1 credit = 1 minute of video.
So, presumably, each month Gold members can download over 3 hours of video.

Members can download lessons for:

  • offline viewing
  • syncing to a portable device (iPod, iPhone, iPad, etc)
  • burning to a DVD
  • saving a lesson for viewing after your membership has ended

With our new download points system, you accumulate these points whether or not you log in. The points also roll over each month and do not expire.

How do I cancel a Paypal subscription?

  1. Login to your PayPal account.
  2. Click on the Profile link. Don’t choose any of the drop-down items, just click on “Profile” all by itself.
  3. Look under the Financial Information column and select the Pay List link.
  4. Click on the subscription you want to cancel. Look for the company name: JazzEDge. the subscription number will be different than the one shown in this image.
  5. Click the Cancel link.
  6. Confirm the cancellation.

How do I change the credit card on file?

To update your card, just login to your account, click on Payments and look for the UPDATE CREDIT CARD link.

What is the 7 day free trial?

The Free Member Trial is a no commitment, no credit card, and no contract trial. As a free trial member, you can “test drive” our lessons and Member’s Area.

The only information you need to provide us is you name and email. You are not charged for this trial and it will not convert into a “sneaky charged” account either.

As a free trial member, you have access to our lessons for 7 days. After that, you can to upgrade to a Gold or Premium membership to continue to view the lessons.

We have added a complete lesson along with sheet music which you can download called Improvisation Techniques. This lesson will be “pinned” to the top of all lesson search results so you can easily find it.

Each lesson is broken down into 10-15 chapters…just like a DVD. With your free trial, you have access to a limited number of chapters, except in the case of our Improvisation Techniques lesson which you have complete access to. There is plenty to see and learn!

How you use your trial time is completely up to you. You can stay focused on a few chapters from one lesson, or you can watch a couple of chapters in a number of different lessons. It’s up to you. Don’t worry though, even after your trial ends, you will still have access to our free Improvisation Techniques lesson.

So:

  • You can watch about 500 of the 2000+ chapters currently available
  • Some chapters are only available to paying Premium and Gold members
  • Sheet music is only available to Premium and Gold members…except in the case of the Improvisation Techniques lesson

Is there a charge for the trial account?

No. The free trial is just that free. You will not be charged. In fact, you will not even be asked for a credit card. The only information you need to provide is your name and email address. Yes, we will send you emails, but we will not bombard your email box. You can also unsubscribe your email address and still use the site!

What do I have access to as a trial member?

“stream not available” error message

If you receive a “Stream Not Available” error when trying to watch a movie, the problem is most likely because of a delivery problem.

The videos are sent to your computer via a Content Delivery Network. When you request a movie, it sends it to a computer nearest you…and then to your computer. These movies stay “cached” or saved on these nearby computers. However, if the movie has not been requested for a certain amount of time, it will be deleted from these nearby servers and will need to be sent to them again.

O.K., so what does this mean for you? Well, try these steps:

  • Simply try going to a different chapter then coming back to see if it will load, or
    Select the chapter you want to watch, wait about 10 minutes (you can watch other chapters in the meantime) then come back.
  • This will give the computers time to send the video files your way. This does not happen often and these steps should fix the issue.
  • Now, if you see this for all chapters, please contact us so that we can look into your account.

Payment failed: E00003:Invalid character in the given encoding

The issue might be any accented characters that you may have entered depending on the type of keyboard you are using. For example a character like ( ü ) would not work.
